Las Vegas, Nev. – Bring Back Solar Alliance spokesperson Bob Greenlee released the following statement today regarding NV Energy’s filing regarding the utility rates of Nevada solar customers:

“Nevadans should be disappointed, but not surprised, that NV Energy went back on its word today.  Last week, NV Energy publicly claimed that it would support grandfathering for its over 17,000 customers who have invested in solar. But today, NV Energy issued a proposal to undermine the investments their own customers, hard-working Nevada men and women, have made to generate their own power.

A typical business must do right by its customers. But because NV Energy is a monopoly, sheltered by the Public Utilities Commission, it has chosen to protect its profits and ignore what is right for its customers and for Nevada.

We urge the Legislature to call a special session to bring back solar to Nevada. But if state leadership will not act, the people will step up in November. That is why the Bring Back Solar Alliance is supporting a referendum that will return energy choice to Nevadans and keep solar affordable for everyone in the state."
